Frequently Asked Questions

Plant rescue. Memory work. Community rooted in reverence.

What is Verdant Revival?

Verdant Revival is a plant rescue and legacy project based in South Jersey and Philadelphia.
We specialize in reviving unwanted, overgrown, or heirloom houseplants , many from estates, elders, or homes in transition.

Each plant we receive is treated with care, patience, and respect for its story. Once thriving again, it’s rehomed through our adoption program, ensuring its legacy continues with a new caretaker.

This isn’t about resale. It’s about renewal.

Do you buy plants?

No. Verdant Revival does not purchase plants.
We work on a donation-only model, meaning people gift us plants freely, trusting us to care for them with intention.

Adoption fees simply cover soil, materials, pots, and the time it takes to nurse each plant back to health.
We restore and rehome with purpose.

Can I adopt a plant?

Absolutely. Every plant we rehome comes with a care summary and, when possible, a legacy note from its previous caretaker.
You can view available plants on our website, at pop-up events, or via Instagram @Verdant.Revival

How do I surrender a plant?

Contact us! We’ll ask about its care history, condition, and any sentimental ties, then schedule a local drop-off or pickup.

Each intake includes a small legacy tag — a place to write a note, story, or memory to accompany your plant into its next chapter.

What kinds of plants do you accept?

We welcome most houseplants, especially those with:

  • Sentimental or family history

  • Overgrowth or neglect

  • Root rot, pest damage, or exhaustion

  • Significant age (we love a 20-year-old jade!)

We typically decline:

  • Outdoor trees or large shrubs

  • Highly invasive or toxic species

  • Plants with severe infestations (though we can offer guidance or referrals)

Unsure? Email a photo and your plant’s story — we’ll help you decide the best next step.

Do you travel to pick up plants?

Yes — in certain cases, especially for heirloom, oversized, or fragile legacy plants, we’ll travel up to three hours from National Park, NJ, to assist with safe pickup or on-site care.

Travel availability depends on distance, schedule, and season. Just reach out — we’re happy to discuss options for your specific plant.

What is “Legacy & Care”?

Legacy & Care is our long-term tending service for plants that still belong to you.

We provide:

  • Off-site care and storage for heirloom or recovering plants

  • In-home plant sitting (short or long term)

  • Seasonal care for traveling or overwhelmed caretakers

You’ll receive photo updates, care notes, and progress reports as your plant grows. When you’re ready — it returns home, renewed and thriving.

Do you offer in-home or virtual consultations?

Yes! Verdant Revival offers personalized plant and space consultations, including:

  • Heirloom Plant Consultations – preserving family plants for future generations

  • Houseplant Health Checkups – addressing pests, soil issues, watering rhythms, and light

  • Sacred Space Design – for grief gardens, ancestor corners, or meditative green sanctuaries

  • Garden Flow Guidance – restoring overgrown beds and creating intuitive planting layouts

Consultations are available virtually or in person (depending on location).

Do you host or attend events?

Yes — we love gathering around plants and story.
Verdant Revival is available for:

  • Planting Parties (perfect for bridal showers, birthdays, team building)

  • Ritual-Based Workshops blending storytelling, symbolism, and hands-on planting

  • Community Storytelling Events honoring grief, growth, and green memory

We provide setup, plants, and all materials — or can customize themes for your occasion.
Each event is rooted in connection and reverence.
